Nigel Farage Cedes Control of Reform UK as Party Leads in Polls

LONDON – Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage has relinquished formal control of Reform UK, the political party currently topping opinion polls in Britain, as part of efforts to professionalize its structure ahead of the next general election.

Farage and Deputy Leader Richard Tice gave up their over 90% shareholding in Reform UK Party Limited, according to filings with Companies House reviewed by Reuters. The party, previously registered as a private company under Farage’s majority ownership, will now be managed by a restructured entity named REFORM 2025 LTD.

The shift allows Reform UK to transition into a non-profit organisation controlled by its more than 200,000 members, marking a significant change in governance. “As promised, Nigel Farage has handed over ownership of Reform UK to its members,” said party Chairman Zia Yusuf in a statement.

The decision comes as Reform UK recently surpassed the governing Labour Party in a major opinion poll, reflecting increasing discontent with Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s leadership seven months into his term.
