New Zealand says new Nato partnership to cover climate change, security

New Zealand is dealing with a new sort of partnership with Nato, which will be covering areas of common interest which involves the global rules  based order, climate transformation and cyber safety , the nation’s foreign minister explained. Ms Nanaia Mahuta wrote in an e-mail which was sent to Reuters that Nato is bringing all of its partnership settlements to a new model which is named as Individually Tailored Partnership Programme (ITPP).

New Zealand is currently working on this.“Our ITPP will record well established mutual interest between New Zealand and Nato, and there is a possibility that cooperation will increase over the arrangement period,” she said. New Zealand has been a Nato partner since the year 2012, but is not a member. A Nato statement in February said New Zealand and Nato were working on improving the relations to take care of the shared security hurdles. New Zealand has a well established nuclear-free policy, and Ms Mahuta said the ITPP will be in tuned with that rule.New Zealand’s Prime Minister Chris Hipkins earlier said he would be visiting the Nato summit in Lithuania as well as going to China in the last days of June.
