HANOI – Vietnam and China signed 10 key agreements on Sunday, including initiatives for agricultural cooperation and cross-border QR code payments, during Chinese Premier Li Qiang’s three-day visit to Hanoi.
China remains Vietnam’s largest trading partner and a crucial source of imports for its manufacturing industry. Bilateral trade between the two nations surged by 21% in the first three quarters of 2024, reaching a total of $148 billion.
The signing ceremony followed Premier Li’s meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. During his visit, Li also met with President To Lam, Vietnam’s Communist Party chief, on Saturday, where both leaders committed to strengthening economic ties and boosting cooperation in areas like farm produce.
This visit underlines the growing economic relationship between the two neighboring nations, focusing on enhancing trade and cooperation across several sectors.
