NEGERI SEMBILAN, MALAYSIA — Newly appointed Chief Minister Dato’ Ismail Lasim pledged on Monday to honour his election manifesto by keeping the Assessment Tax (Cukai Pintu) unchanged across the state for the next five years, officials said.
Ismail said the tax freeze is designed to ease cost-of-living pressures on households, businesses and property owners while the government pursues infrastructure projects and public services. “We understand the financial challenges faced by many families and businesses, and therefore we will ensure that there will be no increase in assessment tax for the next five years,” he said.
The chief minister added his administration will bolster fiscal discipline and seek sustainable revenue sources so the state can meet development goals without imposing additional charges on residents. Community leaders and business groups welcomed the announcement, saying it should boost consumer confidence and support local economic stability.
The state government reiterated its commitment to transparent governance and responsible financial management as it implements promises made during the recent election.
