SINGAPORE — Singapore’s Indian business leaders have called for stronger cooperation and clearer guidance to help companies navigate India’s diverse regulatory and business landscape. The inaugural tabla! Leadership Exchange Series, held jointly with the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, focused on expanding Singapore-India trade and bilateral relations.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Energy, Trade and Industry Gan Siow Huang said India offers major opportunities but presents challenges for foreign businesses because its states operate with different regulations, business environments and cultures. She said Singapore is committed to building stronger bridges between business communities in both countries.
Gan encouraged Singapore firms to use the Singapore Enterprise Centre in Bengaluru, established by the Singapore Business Federation in November 2025. The centre is expected to support more than 470 companies over two years through business missions, roundtables, seminars and other programmes.
Bilateral engagement has also intensified at the government level, with ministers from both countries meeting at the fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable in August. Singapore is additionally seeking to strengthen ASEAN-India trade when it chairs ASEAN in 2027, with officials working to upgrade the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement by reducing tariff and non-tariff barriers.
