Rodziah Ismail Considers Another Bid for Wanita PKR Chief Post

AMPANG – Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail is weighing the possibility of contesting for the Wanita PKR chief’s position again, citing a need for revitalization within the party’s women’s wing, which she described as “lethargic.”

Although she has not made a final decision, Rodziah revealed that many party members have urged her to take on the leadership role. In the 2022 PKR elections, Rodziah narrowly lost to Fadhlina Sidek by just 32 votes, with Fadhlina securing 18,923 votes to Rodziah’s 18,891.

“I am assessing the needs of the wing, and I understand the grassroots’ desire for me to lead,” she told reporters at an event in Ampang. “There are many areas that need improvement, and I sense some lethargy. The wing needs a breath of fresh air.”

Apart from potentially contesting the Wanita PKR chief position, Rodziah confirmed her intent to defend her current role as Shah Alam division chief in the upcoming party elections. PKR is set to hold division-level elections from April 11 to 20, while the central leadership elections are scheduled for May 24.
