COPENHAGEN – Novo Nordisk announced on Wednesday that there is no indication so far that three recent fires at its Danish facilities are connected or the result of criminal activity.
The latest fire occurred on Tuesday at a building near the company’s headquarters in Bagsvaerd, northwest of Copenhagen. This incident marks the third fire in just over a month at different facilities occupied by Novo Nordisk, the manufacturer of the weight-loss treatment Wegovy and the diabetes drug Ozempic.
The fire was quickly brought under control by the fire brigade. “There are no signs of criminal activity at any of the three fires and no signs that they are linked to each other,” a Novo Nordisk spokesperson stated. The spokesperson added that police are still investigating all three fires.
Danish police echoed this sentiment on Wednesday regarding the most recent blaze. “For now, there is no indication that there is anything criminal behind the fire, but it is of course being thoroughly investigated by the police,” Copenhagen police posted on social media platform X.
Earlier fires were reported on May 16 at a building under construction in Kalundborg and on May 22 in an office building in Bagsvaerd, the same suburb where the latest incident occurred. The ongoing investigations aim to determine the causes of these fires and ensure there are no further threats to Novo Nordisk’s operations.
