MOSCOW – The Kremlin announced on Tuesday that the final details of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Russia are being worked out. Deepening trade and economic cooperation will be one of the key themes of the visit. While the Kremlin has not yet disclosed the dates of Modi’s visit, a Russian state news agency reported last month that it would take place in July.
“I can only confirm once again that the visit is in the final stage of preparation,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, adding, “A very important visit.” Peskov emphasized that regional security and global security issues are always high on the agenda for such meetings. Additionally, he highlighted the significance of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
“Our trade and economic cooperation is also one of the main issues that is being discussed, the most diverse areas of cooperation that we intend to develop, for which there is mutual political will,” Peskov said. “This is the main thing.” He also mentioned that Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin share a “very trusting” relationship. This visit comes at a time when both countries are looking to strengthen their bilateral ties and expand their cooperation in various sectors.
