HONG KONG – Hong Kong will ban the possession and use of e-cigarette cartridges in public by mid-2026, Secretary for Health Lo Chung-mau announced on Feb 9. The move aims to curb vaping, which remains prevalent despite a 2022 ban on the import, manufacture, and sale of e-cigarettes.
The ban will first apply to outdoor areas before expanding indoors. Authorities cite concerns over illegal imports and the misuse of vaping devices for recreational drug use. Additionally, Hong Kong plans to prohibit non-menthol flavored cigarettes as part of its broader anti-tobacco agenda.
