LAS VEGAS – U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign raised a significant $55 million over the weekend during two high-profile fundraising events, a campaign official confirmed on Sunday.
The first event, held at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, brought in $27 million and featured remarks from former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and a performance by singer Andra Day. The following day, Harris raised an additional $28 million at an event in downtown Los Angeles, with performances by Alanis Morissette and Halle Bailey. Celebrities like Keegan-Michael Key, Demi Lovato, and Stevie Wonder were among those in attendance.
During the events, Harris emphasized her economic policies and described herself as a capitalist, portraying the upcoming election as a critical moment for the nation. Despite her fundraising success, she referred to herself as the underdog in the race, with the presidential election just weeks away.
In August, Harris’ campaign, in conjunction with the Democratic Party, raised $361 million, positioning her with a cash advantage over Republican rival Donald Trump, whose campaign, alongside the Republican Party, raised $130 million.
With the election nearing, recent polls show a close contest, with a Reuters/Ipsos survey giving Harris a 47% to 40% lead over Trump. However, other polls suggest a tighter race.
