BUDAPEST – Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of former U.S. President Donald Trump, is scheduled to meet Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto in Budapest on Friday, according to a statement from Hungary’s foreign ministry. While the purpose of the visit remains undisclosed, it has stirred speculation about possible business ventures in the region.
As Executive Vice President of The Trump Organization, Trump Jr. oversees global expansion in real estate, hospitality, and commercial sectors. His visit to Hungary comes amid reports suggesting he is actively exploring opportunities to grow the Trump family’s business footprint in Eastern Europe.
Citing unnamed sources, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday that Trump Jr. is on a broader regional tour aimed at forging new business ties. This follows his meeting last month with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade—an encounter that came in the wake of a major development deal between Serbia and Jared Kushner’s Affinity Global Development. That agreement involves the construction of a luxury hotel on the ruins of a former military building damaged during NATO’s 1999 air campaign.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, a close political ally of Donald Trump, recently stated that Hungary is aiming to finalize a business agreement with the United States within six months. The anticipated deal could help cushion Hungary’s economy from looming tariffs expected under a Trump administration, particularly in the car manufacturing sector on which Hungary heavily depends.
While the Hungarian foreign ministry has not confirmed whether Trump Jr.’s visit is tied to any specific deal, the meeting adds another layer to the growing business and political engagement between the Trump network and Eastern European nations.
