The Delhi High Court on Wednesday ruled that the personality rights of Bollywood stalwart Anil Kapoor will be saved in opposition to any capable misuse of artificial intelligence (AI). This comes after Mr Kapoor, who has starred in many hit Bollywood movies involving the 2008 Oscar-winner “Slumdog Millionaire”, won an interim order in opposition to 16 defendants for unlawfully taking away his personality rights, reported Outlook India magazine on Wednesday.
Mr Kapoor’s personality rights involve his name, likeness, photo and voice. The court order hinders people from using Mr Kapoor’s personality rights for commercial aims or on facebook, instagram or any other social media platform , revealed Indian news outlet Firstpost on Thursday. In a report given by The Indian Express on Thursday, the court has an opinion that technological tools such as AI has now made it available for any unauthorised user to utilise a celebrity’s persona. “The celebrity also has the right of privacy and does not wish that his or her image, or voice, is used in a dark way like its being done on porn websites,” conveyed the court.
