Australia’s Santos rejects allegations of human rights violations

Santos, who is the producer of Australian gas discards the allegations of human right violations at Barossa Gas Project. The company’s problem is that some of its financiers received a letter from Equity Generation Lawyers, on behalf of the nine individuals, alleging breaches of human rights of Tiwi Island, Larrakia and Gomeroi people arising from its projects. The letter asked the financiers to cancel loans and not progress with any future approvals for the projects. They urged to stop development of the Barossa.Santos goes on to say that the ones who are claiming have no proper grounds to what they are saying. They should either get their allegations remedied in a court of  jurisdiction where Santos will be given the opportunity to clearly respond. Spiritual australian people have deep spiritual connections with Tiwi Island. Environmental groups have been campaigning for years against Santos.A group in Australia has made an effort to help Santos financially by withdrawing a US$1 billion loan to Santos by Singapore’s DBS Bank.
