The government of Australia has decided to give a new A$110 million (S$99.3 million) package to Ukraine, involving 70 military vehicles to protect against Russia’s attack, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese conveyed on Monday. The fresh collaborations and decisions include Australia’s total contribution for Ukraine to A$790 million, involving A$610 million in military help, since the war started in February 2022. “This extra support will make a real difference, supporting the Ukrainian people who go on to show wonderful strength in the face of Russia’s illegal, unprovoked and immoral war,” Mr Albanese conveyed during a media briefing in Canberra.
His view says that the package was not triggered by events taking place in Russia over the weekend when heavily-armed Russian mercenaries briefly took control of the Russian city of Rostov, in one of the worst times. “No, we have been dealing with this proposal, deciding to taking it to Cabinet this morning, for some time,” Mr Albanese said. Australia is one of the biggest non-Nato contributors to the West’ help for Ukraine and has been providing aid, ammunition and defence equipment involving scores of Bushmaster armoured vehicles. The UK Armed Forces keeps up close conversation with Ukraine to flourish and polish the course based on the skills most required on the battlefield,” the ministry said.
