Vietnam’s Communist Party Chief Lam to Visit US and Cuba Next Week

HANOI — Vietnam’s top leader, Communist Party chief President To Lam, is scheduled to visit the United States and Cuba next week. During his trip, which will take place from September 22 to 27, Lam will attend the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, according to a government statement released on Wednesday.

In addition to delivering a speech at the UN event, Lam is expected to meet representatives from major US corporations, including Alphabet’s Google and Meta, the parent company of Facebook. His visit to Cuba will reaffirm Vietnam’s long-standing communist partnership with the Caribbean nation.

The government statement did not specify whether President Lam will meet with US President Joe Biden during his US visit. However, the trip underscores Vietnam’s efforts to strengthen ties with key global partners while maintaining its traditional alliances.
