UK’s Prince William to Attend Re-Opening of Notre-Dame Cathedral

LONDON – Prince William, the Prince of Wales, will visit Paris on Saturday to attend the re-opening of Notre-Dame Cathedral, which was severely damaged by a fire over five years ago. Kensington Palace confirmed on Friday that Prince William would represent the UK at the ceremony at the request of the British government.

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump will also attend the event. Notre-Dame, a medieval Gothic icon and one of Paris’s most cherished landmarks, will reopen its doors later this week to tourists and the faithful. The cathedral’s roof was destroyed by fire in April 2019, causing extensive damage to its spire and bell towers. The cause of the fire remains unclear.
