LONDON – The United Kingdom held discussions on Wednesday with representatives from approximately 20 nations, primarily from Europe and the Commonwealth, to explore contributions to a proposed “coalition of the willing” aimed at bolstering Ukraine, a British official confirmed.
The initiative, spearheaded by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, was unveiled on Sunday, with Britain, France, and several other allied nations working together to draft plans for supporting Ukraine in the event of a peace agreement to conclude Russia’s invasion.
While the UK official refrained from naming specific countries involved, they emphasized the significance of the discussions. “This reflects the coalition’s commitment to collaboration and the readiness of multiple nations to contribute in meaningful ways,” the official stated.
Acknowledging that the process remains in its infancy, they noted that the geopolitical situation continues to evolve. “We are in the early stages, and the dynamics are shifting rapidly,” they added.
The UK’s diplomatic efforts signal a broader international push to establish a framework for Ukraine’s long-term stability and post-war recovery, reinforcing strategic alliances in the face of ongoing global challenges.
