KUALA LUMPUR – Two men allegedly attempted to trespass into Istana Negara with a weapon in their car, leading to their arrest by the city police.
City police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa reported that the incident occurred around 4:40 PM on May 17. The men tried to enter the palace compound on Jalan Sultan Abdul Halim via Gate 3, claiming they wished to meet His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
“Upon stopping the vehicle, further inspection revealed a machete inside. The two local men, aged 29 and 37, were immediately arrested,” said Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa.
Initial urine tests confirmed that both suspects tested negative for drugs. The men are currently remanded until May 21 for further investigation.
Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa urged the public not to speculate or spread false information regarding the incident. The case is being investigated for criminal trespass and possession of an offensive weapon.
