Trump Says US Still Sharing Intelligence With Ukraine

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the United States continues to share intelligence with Ukraine and is working with both Kyiv and Moscow to end the war. “We are helping them, and we are sharing intel,” Trump told reporters. “We want the war to end, so we’re working with them and Russia on getting the war to end.”

Trump said both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy want the conflict to conclude, but described deep hostility between the two leaders and said they “don’t know how to get there.”

The president was also questioned about a Russian diesel deal that has drawn criticism from US lawmakers in both parties, who argue it appears to violate restrictions on Russian energy imports imposed after Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.

Asked whether Russia could use proceeds from the diesel arrangement to buy more weapons, Trump sidestepped the concern, saying the fuel was being released into the global market rather than to the United States.  The remarks come amid reports that Washington has warned Kyiv it could suspend intelligence sharing and weapons support if Ukraine continues strikes on Russian energy facilities.
