SAO PAULO – A small aircraft crashed into a bus on a busy avenue in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on the morning of February 7, killing two people and injuring six others, local authorities reported.
The Beech F90 King Air plane, which had taken off from Sao Paulo en route to Porto Alegre, went down on Marques de Sao Vicente Avenue before colliding with the bus, according to the fire department. The victims, identified as the pilot and co-pilot, were found charred in the aircraft’s fuselage.
“Unfortunately, we started the day with this tragic plane crash,” Sao Paulo Governor Tarcisio de Freitas wrote on social media, commending the fire department’s swift response. “Their quick action in extinguishing the flames within minutes prevented this tragedy from being even worse.”
Among the injured were a woman traveling on the bus and a biker struck by debris, both of whom were taken to the hospital. Four others sustained minor injuries. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
