South Korea Deploys Over 10,000 Police Officers for College Entrance Exam Security

SEOUL – South Korea is mobilizing over 10,000 police officers nationwide to ensure the smooth and secure administration of the annual College Scholastic Ability Test, known as Suneung, on November 14. A total of 10,256 officers will manage key logistical and security tasks, including the transportation of exam papers, maintaining order at test site entrances, managing traffic, and patrolling nearby areas to prevent any disturbances.

For each of the 1,282 test sites across 17 cities and provinces, two officers and a patrol car will handle the transportation of test papers to the venues and the safe return of answer sheets once the exam concludes. To ensure students’ prompt arrival, officers will be stationed at each entrance until the latest entry time of 8:10 a.m.

During the exam, officers will also patrol surrounding areas to address any potential noise disruptions, particularly during the critical English listening comprehension segment, to maintain a calm environment for the test-takers.
