For Changi Airport a fifth terminal is in the pipeline. It will be the airport’s largest when it is completed. Annually, it will be able to serve up to 50 million passengers.
A new waterfront district is being planned in the south of the airport. It has the ability to provide linkages for tourists between Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and Terminal 5.
The Great Southern Waterfront is an upcoming project that will transform the Lion city. Stretching more than 30km, the Great Southern Waterfront extends from Pasir Panjang to Marina East. It will create approximately 9,000 housing units along Singapore’s southern coast. It will also incorporate a continuous waterfront promenade, with green and open spaces.
A tribute will be paid to Singapore’s national servicemen by the upcoming NS Square. It will take the place of the Marina Bay floating platform. After completion, National Day parades will be hosted there. It will also feature community sports facilities which will be accessible to pedestrians as well.
The upcoming Founders’ Memorial, a space to honour Singapore’s pioneers, will be located in Bay East Garden. It will have a lake, a forest trail, viewing gallery and a theatre which will be suitable for large gatherings.
In 2022, the construction work for the memorial will start. The memorial will feature artefacts and stories collected from Singaporeans that depict the key milestones in the history of the country. The memorial will probably be completed by 2027.
