WASHINGTON – U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to visit Saudi Arabia from March 10-12, where he will engage in discussions with Ukrainian officials, according to a statement from the U.S. Department of State.
During his visit, Rubio is scheduled to meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce confirmed. Following his stay in Saudi Arabia, Rubio will travel to Canada for the G7 foreign ministers’ summit, taking place from March 12-14.
On Friday, Rubio spoke with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, conveying that President Donald Trump aims to bring the Russia-Ukraine conflict to a swift resolution. The discussion follows Trump’s recent decision to halt military aid and intelligence-sharing with Ukraine after tensions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy escalated on February 28.
Meanwhile, Zelenskiy has announced plans to visit Saudi Arabia on Monday for talks with Mohammed bin Salman. Additionally, Ukrainian diplomatic and military officials are expected to engage in discussions with the U.S. delegation on Tuesday.
