Rodziah Ismail to Challenge Fadhlina Sidek Again for Wanita PKR Chief Post

KUALA LUMPUR – Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail has confirmed her candidacy for the Wanita PKR chief’s post in the party’s upcoming elections, setting up a rematch against incumbent Fadhlina Sidek.

Rodziah, a PKR central committee member, expressed confidence in her ability to revitalize the party’s women’s wing, citing over two decades of political experience. “I believe this contest between sisters will not divide the party,” she said at a Women’s Day event.

Last week, Rodziah hinted at another bid for the position, criticizing the current leadership for allowing the wing to become “lethargic.” She claimed that many party members had urged her to take on the role. In the 2022 PKR elections, she narrowly lost to Fadhlina by just 32 votes, with Fadhlina securing 18,923 votes to Rodziah’s 18,891.

Rodziah also confirmed she would defend her Shah Alam division chief position. Meanwhile, Fadhlina, who is also Malaysia’s education minister, has vowed to strengthen Wanita PKR ahead of the next general election and the Sabah state polls. PKR will hold its division-level elections from April 11 to 20, followed by central leadership elections on May 24.
