The Philippines said it successfully concluded a resupply goal to its grounded warship on a contested atoll in the Southern part of China Sea on Tuesday, just fifteen days after it had to eradicate an alike try when a China Coast Guard vessel fired water cannon at its boats. The nation’s task force on the South China Sea conveyed in a statement that the mission to the Second Thomas Shoal was enforced in spite of the efforts by the Chinese coast guard and Chinese Maritime Militia “to block, harass, and interfere”.
China’s coast guard said in a statement it “created temporary arrangements” for Manila to give food and necessities to the atoll, which it also claims, on humanitarian foundations. Some of Philippine troops exist aboard the World War II-era warship Sierra Madre which the South-east Asian nation intentionally grounded in the Second Thomas Shoal in 1999 to reinforce its independent rule claim to the atoll.
An Aug 5 activity executed by the Philippines to drive provisions for its troops there was disrupted by Chinese coast guard vessels which, Manila said, utilized water cannon in opposition to one of its boats. The even triggered a reply from the United States, which criticised Beijing’s “perilous actions” in the disputed waters. China views the Philippines’ occupation of the shoal as unlawful
