Kota Raja MP Mohamad Sabu to Visit Putra Heights Gas Fire Victims

PETALING JAYA – Kota Raja MP Mohamad Sabu is set to visit victims of the devastating gas pipeline fire along Jalan Putra Harmoni in Putra Heights tomorrow.

Several affected residents expressed disappointment over Mohamad’s absence following the fire, which left 111 people injured—13 critically—and destroyed 87 homes. The incident occurred within the Kota Raja parliamentary constituency, which Mohamad has represented since 2018, securing re-election in an eight-way contest in 2022.

Mohamad’s aide, Adeysham Nor, clarified that the MP spent the first day of Hari Raya on March 31 in Kota Raja before traveling to Penang for celebrations over the past two days. “Mohamad will visit the victims in hospital and inspect the incident site tomorrow,” Adeysham stated, confirming that the MP is expected to return to Kuala Lumpur tonight.

Mohamad has been receiving regular updates on the situation from the Kota Raja service centre and the Selangor government. Authorities report that 538 residents from 120 families have been displaced and are currently seeking refuge at temporary relief centres set up at the Putra Heights Mosque and the Subang Jaya City Council multipurpose hall.
