BAGHDAD – Iraqi Oil Minister Hayan Abdel-Ghani is reported to be in stable condition following emergency heart surgery in the United States, according to an oil ministry official. Abdel-Ghani was on an official visit to the U.S. to encourage investment in Iraq’s energy sector when he experienced health issues and required immediate medical attention.

The oil ministry has not yet released further details, and Abdel-Ghani, along with other officials from the ministry, could not be reached for additional comment.
