Varun Singh is a para high jumper from India. He has an impairment in his left leg as a result of the effect of Polio. His sports talent was recognised in his school days. His coach is Satyanarayana, a former national athlete. The GoSports Foundation supports him through the Para Champions Programme. He currently trains at the Sports Authority of India, Bengaluru. His idol is indian para shot putter Deepa Malik. He registered the ‘A’ qualification mark for the 2012 Summer Paralympics games. He won a gold medal at the 2014 China Open Athletics Championship. He stood 5th at the 2015 Para World Championship in Doha, Qatar. At the 2016 IPC Athletics Asia-Oceania Championship, he won a gold. He won a bronze medal in the 2016 summer paralympics games held at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He won bronze again in 2017 in World’s Para Athletics Championship. He won a silver medal in Asian Para games, 2018. He was honoured with the Arjuna Award by the Government of India in 2017. He also won the Times of India Sports Award given by the Times of India group in 2017. He was honoured with the Yash Bharti Award by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in 2017.
