COPENHAGEN – Danish police detained climate activist Greta Thunberg on Wednesday during a protest at Copenhagen University against the ongoing war in Gaza, according to a spokesperson from the student group, Students Against the Occupation, which organized the demonstration.
The protest saw around 20 activists blocking the entrance to a university building, with three individuals reportedly entering the premises. A total of six people were detained by police, who declined to confirm their identities. However, the student group confirmed that Thunberg was among those held.
A photo published by Ekstra Bladet showed Thunberg wearing what appeared to be handcuffs during the incident. The protest comes amid global demonstrations calling for an end to the conflict in Gaza.
