Former US President Joe Biden Undergoing Radiation Therapy for Prostate Cancer

WASHINGTON – Former US president Joe Biden, 82, is currently receiving radiation therapy and hormone treatment following a prostate cancer diagnosis earlier this year, NBC News reported on October 11.According to a statement quoted by NBC, the treatments are part of a planned course of care for metastatic prostate cancer, which was first disclosed by Biden in May.

His medical team described the cancer as aggressive yet hormone-sensitive, suggesting that it is likely to respond positively to ongoing therapy. In addition to his current condition, Biden underwent surgery in September to remove cancerous skin cells through Mohs surgery, a procedure typically used to treat common skin cancers. This followed a similar finding in 2023, when a routine physical led to the removal of a basal cell carcinoma.

Health concerns have consistently surrounded the former president during and after his term, with his physical fitness and cognitive sharpness frequently debated in political circles. Biden ended his 2024 re-election campaign in July, weeks after a widely criticized debate performance against Donald Trump raised fresh doubts within the Democratic Party. Biden made history in 2020 as the oldest person ever elected president, a record later surpassed in 2024 when Trump, now 79, returned to office.
