Moscow: According to Russia’s FSB state security service, foreign fighters apprehended on Sunday in the southern region of Dagestan were allegedly implicated in financing a fatal attack on a concert hall near Moscow last month. TASS news agency reported on Monday that the FSB also stated one of the four detainees had admitted to personally delivering weapons to the perpetrators of the Moscow assault, as per Interfax news agency.
Russian authorities announced on Sunday the detention of a group of individuals allegedly plotting violent acts but did not disclose their nationality. The attack on March 22 resulted in at least 144 casualties. While the Islamic State has claimed responsibility, Russia has asserted that “Ukrainian nationalists” were involved, a claim vehemently denied by Kyiv. The four individuals charged by Russia for executing the attack are of Tajik ethnicity.
