ATLANTA – Coca-Cola Europacific Partners has issued a recall for several soft drinks, including Coca-Cola, Fanta, and Sprite, across European markets due to elevated levels of the chemical chlorate.
The recall affects products distributed since November in Belgium, the Netherlands, Britain, Germany, France, and Luxembourg. Consumers are advised to return cans and bottles with production codes between 328 GE and 338 GE, according to a statement shared on the Belgian regulator’s website.
While shares of Coca-Cola Europacific Partners rose slightly by 1% in early London trading and have gained 16% over the past year, analysts predict minimal financial impact from the recall. “The volume is small, and most affected products have already been removed,” said Edward Mundy of Jefferies in a note.
In the UK, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) is investigating the presence of the affected products. “If we identify any unsafe food, we’ll ensure its removal and inform consumers,” said Anne Gravett of the FSA. The company has pledged full cooperation with regulators and assured customers of its commitment to maintaining product safety.
