The Government of Vietnam has said in a document that it will be cutting off the rice exports. After Thailand and India, Vietnam is the ,third largest exporter of rice. Vietnam is doing this in order to improve the quality of rice export for protecting the environment and keeping up with the environmental changes. The area of farming rice is also shrinking because of the climate changes happening.
Some of the farmers have decided to switch the type of crop they grow. Sunrise farmers have started to grow mangoes, jackfruit etc. Vietnam will expand the variety of its rice export markets to reduce its dependence on any country. The food Association of Vietnam did not respond to the questions asked to them regarding the topic. A trader seems to be doubtful about this strategy because he believe that the production and export of rice are important for the supply and demand. Singapore and Malaysia are immensely exporting Vietnamese rice.
