India, U.S. Officials Discuss Deepening Bilateral Cooperation and Regional Issues

NEW DELHI — U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday to review sustained progress in bilateral cooperation and discuss regional and global developments.

Rubio briefed Modi on advances across defence, strategic technologies, trade and investment, energy security, connectivity, education and people-to-people ties. The two officials also exchanged views on regional matters, with Rubio sharing the U.S. perspective on the situation in West Asia.

Modi reaffirmed India’s long-standing support for peace initiatives and reiterated the need for conflicts to be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. He asked Rubio to convey his warm greetings to U.S. President Donald Trump and said he looked forward to continued exchanges between the two leaders.
