Bangkok Train Crash Sparks Bus Blaze, Kills at Least Eight

BANGKOK — A multi-vehicle collision in Bangkok on Saturday involving a train and a public bus ignited a fire that killed at least eight people and injured 25 others, authorities said.

The crash, which also involved several cars and motorcycles,  sent firefighters and rescue teams rushing to the scene as flames rapidly consumed the bus and nearby vehicles. Emergency responders worked to extract wounded passengers from the wreckage while fire crews fought the blaze with water hoses.

Officials later said the fire had been brought under control. Crews were cooling the area, venting trapped gas and continuing a search for victims. Police have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
