Irene Benggon, the ex-general manager of the Sabah Tourism Board, passed away today. Irene has contributed a lot to the Sabah Tourism board for about 25 years before retiring in 2016.
Maisdi, on the death of irene, states that everyone is aware of the contribution made by Irene to the development of the tourism industry, and Sabah tourism became famous of her and has been emulated by other states because of her.
While giving his speech, Maisdi described Irene as a hardworking, effective, good, and active officer. While offering his condolence to the family, he states that he has lost a friend today and wishes them patience, as this is a difficult life period.
Masidi further stated that Datuk irene has contributed a lot towards the development of tourism and has excelled in the services, which is why she has been recognized internationally and hopes the recognition works on mitigating her family’s loss.
