SELANGOR, MALAYSIA —Taylor’s Education Group (TEG) has unveiled its newest innovation in international education with the opening of the first Lexel International Schools campus in the Gamuda Gardens township. This initiative aims to transform access to global-standard learning for Malaysian families by offering a fresh model centered on affordability and academic excellence.
Lexel, derived from “lexicon” and “excellence,” is designed to inspire students to build comprehensive knowledge and pursue top achievements across disciplines. The new campus, which welcomed its first cohort on September 8, 2025, features spacious, well-lit classrooms, modern labs, a library, multipurpose hall, and canteen. Its prime location within the township’s town center offers seamless access to amenities including an Olympic-length swimming pool, Wellness Centre, indoor badminton courts, extensive parks, walking trails, and tranquil water features.
This groundbreaking effort arises from the 2024 strategic partnership between Taylor’s Education Group and Gamuda Land, blending Taylor’s academic leadership with Gamuda’s expertise in township development. Together, they envision creating integrated communities where quality, affordable private education enhances residents’ lifestyles and long-term value.
Malaysia’s international school sector has experienced rapid growth, with student enrollment rising 34% between 2019 and 2024. The country’s focus on becoming a premier regional education hub, with a goal of attracting 250,000 international students by 2025, reflects a rising demand for English-medium, globally relevant education. Despite this demand, many families face challenges such as prohibitive fees and limited access to reputable schools. Lexel aims to bridge this gap by delivering internationally recognized education at a more accessible cost, supported by holistic facilities within Gamuda’s master-planned community.
At the launch event, Karl Engkvist, President of Taylor’s Education Private Limited, highlighted Lexel’s role within Taylor’s broader vision. “Lexel International Schools represent a strategic step in expanding access to high-quality international education at affordable prices. Leveraging Taylor’s academic and operational expertise, we are creating a scalable model aligned with our mission to prepare youth worldwide for global opportunities.”
The Gamuda Gardens campus marks an extension of Taylor’s robust education ecosystem that serves over 34,000 students across nine institutions in Southeast Asia. Lexel’s curriculum and facilities benefit from established frameworks in Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam, guided by Taylor’s University School of Education, ensuring world-class standards while maintaining lower tuition fees.
Wong Siew Lee, Chief Operating Officer of Gamuda Land, reiterated education’s pivotal role in sustainable township development. “Building a township is about more than infrastructure; it’s about cultivating vibrant communities where life thrives. Partnering with reputable educational institutions is essential to providing our residents with everything they need at home.”
Looking ahead, Lexel International Schools plan to open a second flagship campus in Gamuda Cove in 2026, with ambitions to expand nationwide and across the region. This network aims to uphold consistent quality and inclusivity, furthering Taylor’s mission to democratize premium education across Malaysia and beyond.
