Taylor’s College Launches Future-Ready Diploma in Digital Design to Boost Malaysia’s Digital Talent

SUBANG JAYA — Taylor’s College is setting new standards in digital education with the introduction of its Diploma in Digital Design (DIDD), a forward-focused programme designed to arm students with critical digital skills for Malaysia’s rapidly growing tech-driven economy.

Students enrolled in the DIDD programme will benefit from state-of-the-art learning spaces, including the VORTEX XR Lab and the 3D Modelling Studio at Taylor’s Lakeside Campus. The VORTEX XR Lab, equipped with immersive virtual technologies, offers students hands-on experience in developing Extended Reality (XR) environments, allowing them to create lifelike 3D and VR projects that mirror real-world scenarios.

This initiative directly supports the goals of Malaysia’s Digital Economy Blueprint, fostering a new generation of adaptable digital professionals ready to thrive across various sectors of the digital landscape.

“We’re thrilled to introduce a programme that not only fills the skills gap in Malaysia’s digital and creative sectors but also nurtures talents who will drive the nation’s digital ambitions,” said Josephine Tan, Campus Director at Taylor’s College. “Our blend of practical training and innovative curriculum is crafted to prepare students for meaningful careers in a global digital marketplace.”

Taylor’s College stands out as one of the select few institutions in Malaysia offering a Work-Based Learning (WBL) component for this diploma. Through a 20-week WBL programme, students team up with industry mentors and academic experts to tackle real industry challenges, enhancing both their creative thinking and technical prowess.

Collaborations with leading companies such as CraveFX, FusionWorks, iTrainKids, Geek Fam, Cause Effect Consultants, and Virtualtech Frontier further ensure that students receive first-hand industry insights and experience.

“Work-Based Learning bridges classroom theory with industry practice,” noted Ts Dr Wong Chee Kong, Head of the School of Diploma and Professional Studies at Taylor’s College. “Continuous mentorship from industry leaders not only enriches the learning journey but also elevates our students’ employability when they graduate.”

The programme’s launch featured an interactive session led by Programme Director Hijjaz Hamidi Abdul Aziz, a seasoned multimedia designer turned educator. His presentation showcased the dynamic, experience-driven learning approach of the programme, giving attendees a preview of the creative and technical capabilities students will master.

Graduates of the DIDD programme can seamlessly advance to related bachelor’s degrees at Taylor’s University, including the Bachelor of Design (Honours) in Creative Media or the Bachelor of Interactive Spatial Design (Honours), entering directly into Year 2.

Taylor’s College’s track record further bolsters its credentials, with diploma graduates from 2021 to 2023 enjoying a 100% employment rate, as verified by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE). This achievement highlights the institution’s dedication to producing industry-ready graduates primed for success in the fast-evolving digital and creative economy.
