Eswatini and Marshall spoke in favour yet the members of China and pakistan compelled members to reject Taiwan’s inclusion. China claimed that Taiwan is not a separate country but a part of china, ruled by Beijing .It looks like Taiwan has been excluded from many international organisations .China agreed with the decision of WHO .
Chinese foreign ministry supported the decision of one – china principle considering the trends of the times and willingness of people. Ministry explained how about 100 countries supported the decision of one- china principle. The ministry also expressed the concerns of certain countries trying to interfere with the internal matters of china, being pretentious .
Taiwan’s government didn’t respond immediately to the WHO decision. Taiwan has been given the right to be a part of some of the technical WHO meetings but they have said that its exclusion from the WHO hindered efforts to fight the Covid – 19 pandemic. The island refused to accept the idea of China’s sovereignty and expresses that only Taiwanese people can decide their future independently, without anyone’s interference.
