SINGAPORE – Defence Minister and Coordinating Minister for Public Services Chan Chun Sing will make his first official visit to China from September 15 to 18, the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) announced on Sunday.

During his four-day trip, Mr Chan will meet senior Chinese leaders in Beijing and deliver remarks at the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, a premier international platform for high-level discussions on defence and security. The 2025 forum, jointly organised by the China Association of Military Sciences and the China Institute for International Strategic Studies, will focus on the theme “upholding international order and advancing peaceful development.”

Mindef noted that the visit highlights the longstanding and friendly bilateral defence relations between Singapore and China. Mr Chan will be accompanied by Major-General Cai Dexian, Chief of Army, along with senior ministry officials.

In addition to his participation at the forum, Mr Chan is scheduled to visit the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) National Defence University, where he will hold round-table discussions with senior PLA and provincial leaders. His itinerary also includes visits to the PLA Southern Theatre Command in Guangzhou and the STC Navy in Zhanjiang, underscoring the deepening of defence cooperation and dialogue at multiple levels.
