San Miguel and Jordan Sloan have been best friends since the sixth grade. Both have discovered how strong their bond is in the last 18 months. Both Atlanta residents connected over sports. Jordan Sloan is a star on the football field, and San Miguel on the basketball court football field. In September 2020, During a game Sloan took a hit to the head and was immediately rushed to the hospital. There he was placed on a ventilator. He sustained brain-stem trauma. Ever since the accident, he has been working on regaining his strength and mobility.
With the goal of being able to one day play sports again, he goes to rehabilitation sessions six days a week. The entire time, San Miguel has been supporting and cheering his best friend on from the sidelines. He found a way to support his friend in need through basketball.Various necessary items like a manual wheelchair and reformer machine were not covered by insurance. Therefore in order to give Sloan’s family the money necessary to buy such items, San Miguel began taking pledges for every charge he took in a basketball game.
He really just wanted to do whatever he could to help. Till now San Miguel has been able to raise more than $14,000. Jasmine Jamieson, Sloan’s mother, is forever grateful for what San is doing for his friend. She said she doesn’t know if she will ever be able to thank San enough for his help. San Miguel has been helping his friend for the last 18 months. He never left his side. Only during difficult times one gets to know who his true friends and well wishers are. Kind people like San restore faith in humanity. San and Jordan’s story are touching hearts.
