Long queues for durian outside Bedok Sheng Siong

On Thursday (June 24) and Friday (June 25), long lines developed outside the Sheng Siong branch in Bedok Central as the durian season began in earnest.
Many in line said they were looking forward to sharing a durian delight with their friends and family. Many buyers noticed the supermarket’s Wednesday Facebook post, which promoted durians for as little as $2 per fruit.
More than 5,200 people have shared the post, which includes photos of tables heaped high with fruit. Some had come from Sengkang and Hougang in search of a good deal on the spiked fruits. ST estimated that there were around 60 persons in line shortly before 5 p.m. Seven Sheng Siong personnel were observed directing traffic and ensuring that individuals followed safe distance rules. When asked if they were worried about the danger of Covid-19 transmission owing to the high number of individuals there, the majority of customers responded no because they had previously got their second vaccine dose.
