Landmark aviation agreement between ASEAN and European united concluded on a good note


An aviation agreement that will allow flights between two major regions, i.e., Asia and Europe, has been signed by the Asean and European union. Under this agreement, airlines from the respective 37 counties within ASEAN and European Union will fly n number of flights between both the regions.
That’s not it; under this agreement, the countries will provide 14 weekly passenger services and n number of cargo services that will either go via or beyond the third countries.
This is one of the first region-to-region agreements that has taken place in the world and will improve the air connectivity between ASEAN and Europe. This will also enhance the business exchanges taking place between people situated in these regions.
This agreement will also help enhance the economic development in both regions as everyone is struggling and working towards recovering from the economic loss caused by the covid -19 pandemic.
The idea of this agreement began in February 2014, during the aviation summit that took place between ASEAN and the EU in Singapore. The negotiations took around eight rounds before concluding. Singapore led the talks for ASEAN and the European Commission for the EU.
