PATIALA, India – Dr. Jaswinder Singh, an innovator from Patiala, Punjab, has designed a “knowledge jacket” equipped with special pockets to hold almost all the equipment needed for science practicals. This invention allows any science or math teacher to wear the jacket and conduct various experiments directly in the classroom.
Jaswinder Singh has a long history of working on scientific advancements. He previously converted his private car into a mobile science lab named Jaswins Science and Mathematics Lab on Wheels and established the Jaswins Technology Park. His motivation for the knowledge jacket stemmed from the challenges faced by students in conducting practical experiments due to the lack of laboratory facilities in many government schools.
Singh’s idea materialized when he experimented with ordinary doctor’s coats, transforming them into functional “knowledge jackets.” These jackets enable teachers to bring practical science education into classrooms, thereby ensuring that students receive hands-on learning experiences.
Singh frequently wears the jacket himself, demonstrating various experiments to his students, making science more accessible and engaging. His dedication to education has earned him a place in the ASEAN World Record, International book of records and numerous national and international awards, including the Pride of Asia award.
Dr. Jaswinder Singh’s innovative approaches serve as a source of inspiration for thousands of teachers, highlighting the importance of practical education and the impact of creative solutions in overcoming educational challenges.
