India’s para athlete who made the nation proud: Naresh Kumar


Naresh Kumar Sharma is India’s para shooter. He is suffering from 90% disability. He has acquired spinal cord injuries. His impairment is because of the effects of polio, which occurred due to vaccination error. He began shooting in 1994. He took up this sport to prove himself and to others who think that people with disabilities can not pursue a career in sports. He trains for a minimum of 8 hours in a day. He started with pistol shooting and after excelling in it, he shifted to rifle shooting. He finished fifth at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing. His mother has played a significant role in his career. He admires Swiss tennis player Roger Federer the most. He represented India at the paralympic games in 1996. He received the Arjuna award in 1997 from the Indian government. Since then, he has represented India in five paralympic games. He continues to rise and shine and display remarkable determination.
