Joe Biden of the Democratic Party is the US President-elect. He won 290 of the tidal 5338 votes in the recently held elections. Biden is expected to be sworn in as the 46th President of the United States in January 2021. Biden, a former Vice President, would be the oldest US president in history at the age of 78 years. In 1972, at the age of 29 years, he became one of the youngest people ever elected to the US Senate. He went on to serve as a six-term senator from Delaware. He was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on November 20, 1942. He has served in public life for around half a century. While in the US Senate, he has also served on the Judiciary Committee and the Foreign Relations Committee. Biden was deputy to President Barack Obama and has 8 years of Obama Policy experience. He served as the Vice President in the Obama administration during the passage of the Affordable Care Act. This was Biden’s third bid for the White House. In 1988, he withdrew after admitting to plagiarising a speech. Biden ran for the Democratic 2008 nomination before dropping out and after that he joined the Obama ticket. In 1990, Biden introduced the Violence Against Women Act in US Congress. It changes law enforcement practices, improved the criminal justice system, and created a network of services for victims. Since the passage of the Act in 1994, rates of domestic violence decreased by over 50%, as per the White House. Biden is placing a lot of emphasis on health and has said that healthcare is personal to him. He also announced a $2 trillion climate plan to lead the US to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
