BANGKOK – A very heartbreaking incident happened in which four children and three adults died as the roof collapsed in the storm. Children were playing in the open-sided building at a school in Phichit province on Monday, watched by a number of spectators. At about 6.30pm local time, the storm struck and heavy downpour and high winds caused the roof to collapse suddenly.Injured adults were two parents and a janitor, the provincial office of public relations told AFP and 18 people were injured. The video has been posted on facebook.
The storm also harmed many houses in Sam Ngam district, police confirmed. Neighbouring Myanmar was recently battered by Cyclone Mocha, which swept across Rakhine state, killing 145 people. Safety and maintenance standards in Thailand are sometimes lax, and building collapses are not unknown. AFP Some children were hurriedly taken to hospital but unfortunately they died because of their injuries. Serious incidents like these are so unpredictable in the monsoon season.
