Despite COVID induced lockdown, Resorts World Genting to stay open


Malaysia’s flagship IR, Resort World Genting will remain open despite Malaysia going under lockdown. The operator of the resort has stated that they are continuously monitoring the situation right after CMCO was re-introduced in few parts of Malaysia.
For the next few weeks (two) Selangor Putrajaya and Kula Lumpur are under lockdown as these areas witnessed a sudden rise on the cases, 562 and 600 covid positive cases were reported on Monday and Tuesday respectively.
After CMCO was imposed, childcare centres, recreational centres, travelling between the districts, places of worship, everything had to be closed. Travelling between the districts is only allowed if the said person is visiting for the purpose of work. Rest all other economic activities will proceed as usual.
RWG in a statement on their website has stated that they are going to remain open as usual, but will continuously keep an eye on the situation and keep everyone updated if any other information becomes available.
Furthermore, the statement stated that RWG is deep cleaning and sanitizing throughout the resort and are following the SOP laid down by the government. The SOP includes wearing
face masks, observe social distancing and also make sure that every employee is adopting personal hygiene employee so that all the guests and employees are safe.
RWG and their other non-gaming properties like Resorts world Langkawi, Resorts World Kijal and Resort world Awaba were forced to shut down starting 19 March till 19 June because of the covid 19 pandemic and prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin had implemented Movement control order.
RWG despite the abrupt closing RWG has gained substantial recovery on both the non-gaming and gaming operations ad they have reopened, and the domestic tourism is back, and there is a 50 % increase in the visitors.
