COLOMBO, SRI LANKA – The ASEAN Excellence Awards 2025, organized by the Ray Foundation and Vice Asia News, celebrated 30 distinguished educationists and entrepreneurs representing Malaysia, India, Nepal, Vietnam, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. The ceremony, held at the iconic Hotel Taj Samudra in Colombo, recognized these leaders for their exceptional contributions to education, business innovation, social service and nation-building.
The event commenced with a mesmerizing traditional welcome dance performed by Sri Lanka’s cultural troupe, immersing guests in the island’s rich heritage. The ceremony was officially inaugurated with a collective lamp lighting, symbolizing enlightenment and unity across the ASEAN region.
Dr. Purna Bahadur Nepali, Ambassador of Nepal to Sri Lanka and the event’s chief guest, lauded the Ray Foundation’s initiative, emphasizing its role in spotlighting transformational leaders whose quiet dedication is forging a brighter future. He remarked, “This effort is commendable as it brings to the fore real-life champions who contribute silently yet profoundly to building a better world.”
Special guests included Ms. Pearlija Jeeyarajah, Eng. Charuke Karunanrathna, along with Jarif Mannan, Tej Bahadur Nepal, and Laxman Basnet, all of whom admired the platform’s commitment to unity and excellence. Anchor Dhinesha Perera guided the program with grace, highlighting the Ray Foundation’s vision to honor impactful changemakers across education, innovation and social leadership.
A standout moment was the spellbinding demonstration by India’s renowned memory expert, Dr. Vinod Sharma. His extraordinary memory techniques captivated the audience, complementing the official launch of his acclaimed new book, 36 Amazing Memory Tricks, unveiled jointly by the chief guest and dignitaries.
Ms. Pearlija Jeeyarajah underscored the critical role of art, literature, education, and social service as the backbone of national strength. Meanwhile, special guest Zarif Menon said, “Through this platform, we unite leaders from diverse fields to inspire and empower future generations.”
