Kathmandu Governor Paudel Urges Legal Clarity and Foreign Investment for Economic Revival

Kathmandu – Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Prof. Dr. Biswanath Paudel has emphasized that curbing unproductive domestic investment and prioritizing foreign investment are crucial to energize Nepal’s economy. Speaking at a program on Thursday while welcoming the new executive committee of the Society of Economic Journalists of Nepal (SEJON), he stressed that the country’s economic recovery depends on creating a conducive investment environment.

Paudel underlined that legal clarity plays a vital role in economic development, noting that ambiguity in the spirit of laws has hindered economic activities in certain cases. He assured that resources will not fall short in rebuilding structures damaged during the Genji protests, but highlighted the greater importance of improving good governance and administrative efficiency.

Expressing concern over attacks on the private sector during the protests, Paudel said the morale of businesses must be lifted to ensure progress. He stressed that political stability, an investment-friendly environment, confidence among the private sector, and timely economic reforms are indispensable to safeguard enterprises and stimulate national growth.
